I’m Blanca, an Argentinean-Irish visual artist, muralist and art facilitator, known under the pseudonym Libertad, which means “Liberty.” Since 2019, I have dedicated myself full-time to muralism, traveling and collaborating with communities to create collective works that celebrate identity, biodiversity, and cultural heritage.
My practice explores the intersection of ancestral traditions, crafts, and design patterns with the natural environments and biodiversity of the places I visit around the world.
I choose muralism as my primary form of expression because it allows me to work in public space, fostering collaboration with communities and their surroundings. Each project is rooted in research: on the site, the theme, the aesthetic, and most importantly, the local community. By involving local people in both the design and painting processes, the murals become shared creations that foster a sense of ownership and belonging.
Since 2023, I am based in Cork, where I continue to develop community mural projects in collaboration with local recognized organizations. In 2024, I was selected to join the Studio of Sanctuary Programme by Sample-Studios in Cork City, as well as I became a member of Visual Artists Ireland.
